Hi, I'm Shauna
I’m a remote working enthusiast, writer, and hustler. I study successful remote models across a wide range of disciplines — entrepreneurs, organisations, individuals, and more — to uncover the habits and routines that make these people and organisations successful at remote working. My life changed for the better when I started working remotely over three years ago. Over the past three years, I have had my challenges when working remotely- whether it be leading remote projects across multiple time zones or working with teams based in the office. The remote world is a different world and one that I felt needed more research. Over the last year, I've spent my time researching remote teams while undertaking a PhD Diploma in the National University of Galway. I researched various remote working topics such as; culture, communication, strategies, leadership, project management and technologies in virtual environments.
My main questions and explorations are: How can we work more efficiently and smarter?
The first way I try to answer that question is to take the complex and make it simple to understand. What are the fundamental forces that shape our success and failure by remote working? What common misconceptions do we have about remote working? What are the organizing principles that determine the growth and improvement of remote working? How can remote working make a positive impact on society’s workforce?
The second way I try to answer that question is to apply these insights to everyday life. What are the most effective ways to turn proven scientific research into tangible results? How can we create and sustain a work-life balance through remote working and how can we maximise our opportunities and overcome our challenges when it comes to the world that is, remote.
